NANTA Retreat in Ghana to Address Xenophobia, Trade Barriers, Tourism Growth

The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies, NANTA, in collaboration with Ghana’s Safari Valley Resort and supported by Ibom Air, is embarking on a four-day retreat in Ghana to promote intra-African tourism and strengthen regional unity.

The retreat with the theme”Africa for Africa: Tourism, Unity and Shared Growth,” will bring together travel industry leaders and policymakers to address xenophobia, trade barriers and other challenges limiting travel and cultural exchange across the continent.

In a statement, NANTA President, Yinka Folami, says Nigeria and Ghana have a long history of promoting African unity and should continue to choose partnership over division.

Folami says, “Africa is not merely a collection of countries separated by colonial borders, but one community connected by history, culture, trade and people.”

He adds that the association will also discuss ways to promote easier movement of Africans across the continent and strengthen tourism partnerships.

In a lighter moment, Folami joked that the Nigerian delegation would be ready for a friendly Jollof Rice contest with their Ghanaian hosts.

The retreat is expected to produce fresh strategies for boosting seamless travel, cultural exchange and sustainable tourism across Africa.
