The bandits who abducted 38 worshippers from Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have demanded ₦100 million ransom per victim, bringing the total demand to ₦3.8 billion.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the kidnappers have begun contacting the families of the victims, who were taken during a church service earlier in the week.
A community leader and the Olori Eta of Eruku, Chief Olusegun Olukotun, confirmed the development to newsmen. He disclosed that four of his relatives were among those abducted.
Olukotun, who was in the church with five members of his family when the attack occurred, said one of his wards managed to escape through a window during the assault.
He added that the gunmen had established communication with the community, insisting on ₦100 million for each of the 38 abductees.
The community leader appealed for increased security presence in Eruku, a border town, stressing the urgent need to protect residents whose lives and properties remain at risk.
