Enhancing Digital Technology, Key Factor to National Development – Minister

The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Dr Bosun Tijani says Enhancing Digital Technology is among the key factors in enhancing the nation’s economy.

The Minister disclosed this during the National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy which took place in Kano.

He said adequate utilization of Digital Technology aimed at improving the nation’s economy was on the front line in the Tinubu renewed hope agenda.

“The theme of the 11th National Council Leveraging Digital Technology and Innovation to Drive Nigeria’s Economic Growth and Development is apt and in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda which has at its core, a recognition of the power of technology and innovation as enablers of economic growth and development.”

He said Globally, digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and blockchain have become veritable tools for fostering innovation, driving economic growth, and enhancing social prosperity.

“As nations strive to remain competitive in the digital era, policymakers are increasingly focusing on creating an enabling environment that encourages investment in technology, fostering a culture of innovation, and driving productivity by leveraging the manifold benefits of digital technologies across various sectors of the economy.”

Dr Bosun Tijani added that the World Bank underscores the significant role of digital technology investment in growing the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of nations, stressing that Nigeria has been making strides in this direction.

In his remark, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State says his administration was according much priority to the development of Digital Technology.

” on assumption in the office, I make sure that the salary payment system was digitized, and this has helped immensely in blocking leakages”

He noted that his administration has revived the informatics institute which was. established by the Kwankwaso’s Administration to produce qualified people.
