The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Mr Festus Keyamo has constituted a Committee to look into the controversial $300 helicopter landing fee approved recently by the ministry.
While the minister has temporarily suspended the payment of the landing fee due to the complaints by helicopter Operators in the country, the constituted committee is charged to look into the issues raised by concerned Stakeholders and submit a Report on or before end of June, 2024.
In a statement signed by the ministry spokesman, Mr. Odutayo Oluseyi, the suspension of the fees took immediate effect from 30th May, 2024, adding that, further actions on the matter would be taken after a review committee submits its report for scrutiny.
Members of the committee are drawn from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and its relevant Agencies, Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), International Oil Companies (IOCs) and Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Limited, granted the exclusive right by the Federal Government to collect such levies.
The minister had early this year April 25th directed stakeholders and civilian helicopter Operators in a letter addressed to them to pay a Levy of $300 per landing to NAEBI Dynamic Concept a consultant contracted by the Ministry.
The letter added that, failure to do this would be viewed seriously.
