The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, DSVA, says it has secured 2 restraining orders against abusive partners in January, 2022.
In a statement on its achievements in the month of January 2022, the Agency reports that it filed for restraining orders on behalf of the survivors who had suffered series of domestic violence including physical and verbal abuse from the perpetrators.
The application was filed leveraging on sections 5 and 7 of the Protection against Domestic Violence Law, 2007.
The court after hearing the requests made by the applicants granted an order restraining the perpetrators from committing any further abuse and this prevents the abusive spouses from getting access to their partners. Amongst other orders granted by the court is the provision for the welfare of the children.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency therefore urges the public to report all cases of domestic violence, noting that survivors would get justice under Mr. Babjide Sanwo-Olu’s Administration.
