Let Love Motivate You to Serve, Not Financial Gains, Christian Ministers Urged.

Ordained Christian Ministers have been advised not to allow financial gains and fame to be their motivation for service, but to esteem themselves and to serve as Christ would serve.

The Pastor in charge of New Estate Baptist Church, Surulere, Lagos, the Reverend Dr Amos Kunat, gave the advice in a sermon at the Yaba Baptist Church, Sabo-Yaba during the ordination of twenty-four new Reverends into the Lagos East Baptist Conference.

Dr Kunat urged the new Reverends to distinguish themselves by not following the crowd as their new office is a honourable one.

Dr Kunat also admonished them to guard their consecration, their calling and their commission, while serving in love, humility and diligence just like Christ.

“Serve, motivated by love, not for financial gains, not for material acquisitions. You are honourable, that’s why this programme was put together to recognize you, do not dishonour yourself, esteem yourself while serving as Christ would serve with all diligence and commitment” he said.

Speaking on behalf of other ordained Ministers in an interview with Radio Nigeria, the Reverend Regina Iyabode Obasa, who thanked God for the grace extended to them, described the ordination as a higher call to serve God and humanity and expressed the hope that the God who had chosen them would equipped them with all they need to be his worthy ambassadors.

She said “We did not call ourselves, and therefore we have to listen to the person who called us, and every other things will be added just like the Bible says”.

The ceremony was witnessed by some of the leaders of the Lagos East Baptist Conference, church members from different parts of Lagos as well as families and friends of the newly Commissioned Pastors.
