Stowaway found in parked aircraft at Lagos airport


Security agencies at the Lagos airport are currently investigating how a middle-aged man found his way into an aircraft belonging to United Nigeria airline.

The middled-man was discovered this morning during a preflight inspection by the airline technical staff.

The spokesman for the airline, Mr. Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu who described the man as a stowaway in a statement says,  the man was found in one of its aircraft parked at Murtala Mohammed Airport Terminal Two, MMA2.

According to him, the middle-aged man, looked unkempt and suspected to be unconscious, was arrested and taken in for interrogation.

Mr. Uchegbu says, the aircraft last operated Abuja-Lagos at 7.30pm on September 3, 2022 and was securely parked at the apron following post flight inspection.

Aviation Security officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN AVSEC and that of the MM2 are on ground and investigation has opened into the security breach at the terminal.

The affected aircraft is being screened and prepared for service in accordance with the Airlines strict security and operating standards.

Meanwhile, the development has led to the rescheduling of some flights to accommodate the investigations.
