Max Airplane Loses Four Tyres During Takeoff at Yola Airport, Passengers Safe

An aircraft belonging to Max airline on sunday evening lost four of its tyres during take off at the Yola airport en-route Abuja.

According to a statement by the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau NSIB, the Max Aircraft a Boeing 737 had 119 passengers and 6 crew members onboard.

Spokesperson for the NSIB, Mrs Bimbo Oladeji explaining how the incident happened said, after cleared for takeoff from Yola Airport, during the takeoff roll, a loud bang was heard, identified as the bursting of the rear gear tyres, initially two tyres burst. 

But while attempting to taxi off the runway, the remaining two tyres also burst, rendering the aircraft completely disabled.

She noted that, fortunately, no injuries were reported and a go-team, led by NSIB Director General Captain Alex Badeh Jr., will visit the incident site this morning to conduct an investigation.
