Metro FM wins NANTA Best Radio Station of the year 2021

Metro FM 97.7 one of Radio Nigeria’s station in Lagos has won the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies NANTA award as the best radio station of the year with its flagship segment on AM Lagos Live, Aviation Runway.

Aviation Runway is a 10 minutes package and live reports on activities, breaking news in the air travel industry in Nigeria and globally.

At the award ceremony in Lagos, the President of NANTA, Mrs. Susan Akporiaye described the media as the backbone of NANTA in the promotion of the travel industry and its activities.

She emphasized that, through their years of struggle to stay afloat in the business, the media, radio, television, the newspapers and online had assisted in pushing out to the public what NANTA stood for.

“The travel media was with us all the way and the media Hall of Fame introduced is my appreciation which henceforce will form the fulcrum of our relationship and it will become the permanent history of NANTA”.

An aviation and Travel expert, Dr. Gbenga Olowo while applauding the travel media for their display of professionalism urged them to continue to be fearless in reporting the truth.

“I salute you for doing a very good professional job and for being innovative also in what you are doing, that is the only way the country can move forward”.

Chairman, Board of Trustees, NANTA, Dr. Dayo Adeola said, because of media reports, NANTA had earned the respect it deserved and seen as a family as well as reliable to do business with.

“I want to appreciate you on behalf of NANTA and we will continue to support you and please, where we err we want you to see us as human”.

Activities at the ceremony was the induction of 13 journalists into the NANTA Media Hall of Fame among them was Radio Nigeria Aviation Correspondent Igbinosa Aituamen, Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Others are: Frank Meke, Media travel consultant, and The Sun newspaper, Nigerian Tribune, Wale Olapade, Business Day, Ifeoma Okeke, This Day, Chinedu Eze; Franknews, Franklin Ihejirika, Abel Orukpe, Abelnews; Wole Oyebade, The Guardian; Wole Shadare and Andrew Okungbowa, New Telegraph, Taiye Olayemi, NAN and Justina Okpanku.

10 media houses which cuts across the print, online and broadcast also received awards.
