As part of activities marking the end of the year festivities, the Lagos State Government has held a Food Fest with the theme: “A Taste Of Lagos”
During the event which was held amidst COVID-19 protocols at the Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island area of the State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who was the Special guest of honour cooked stir-fried seafood rice with celebrity chef, Diary of a Kitchen Lover and Big Brother Nigeria winner, Whitemoney to the admiration of all those present.
In her remarks, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya explained that the Food Fest was a platform for Lagosians to relax and unwind with their families
“We thought it good to at least have other food elements in the mix so aprt from seafood still taking preeminence, we have other food items here.We felt that in everything that Lagosians have been through considering COVID-19 and uprising and all, people should let loose, people should enjoy the taste of Lagos”
Ms Olusanya who said for the first time and despite the challenges faced by the State, including Covid-19 restrictions, the Ministry of Agriculture raked in over a billion naira into the State coffers said in celebration of the feat, the Ministry chose to honour some of the staff who made it possible.
“We just want to give them the honour, we want to give them the accord for serving the State well, they have gone over and beyond in this year 2021 to deliver food security to a reasonable extent, for the first time in the history of the ministry, we’ve crossed a billion in IGR. So we feel that it’s imperative that we give them some form of appreciation” The Commissioner announced
Gifts were given to about ten junior and senior members of staff and highest revenue generating agency for outstanding performances during the event which was spiced with various entertaining activities including a fashion show, music by Ayra Starr, Wande Coal, Sheyi Shay, DJ Sose amongst others, while those selling raw seafood and cooked ones made brisk businesses.
