Wife of the President To Inaugurate State-of-the-art Hospital in Lagos

To reduce medical tourism and encourage Public Private Partnership in the health sector,

The wife of the President, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu in conjunction with the Lagos state government will next week unveil a new state-of-the-art hospital, aimed at raising the bar for medical care in the region.

Known as Diamed Center, the unveiling ceremony is expected to attract medical experts and dignitaries within and outside the country, including the first Lady of Lagos state, Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and members of the public.

The CEO, Diamed Centre Lekki, Dr Abiola Olorode, in a chat with newsmen in Lagos, said the facility represents a turning point for Lagos, even as she reaffirmed her commitment to offering the people of the state access to top-notch healthcare options.

Olorode said the new facility is strategically located in the heart of the city and is designed to cater to a wide range of medical needs – from routine check-ups to advanced treatments. Boasting modern architecture and equipped with cutting-edge medical technology, “ Diamed centre promises to set a new benchmark in healthcare delivery in Nigeria, she posited.

The Medical Director stated that, the health facility is a multi-specialty facility, adding that, it is a one-stop health facility that caters for the health needs of residents in the state. “Diamed Center stands for our steadfast dedication to each and every Lagosian’s health and well-being.

According to her, “ the facility aims to ensure that our people have access to the greatest care available without requiring them to travel overseas, in addition to providing treatment. With its wide range of offerings and focus on patient-centered care”.

“ It hopes to lessen the strain on the city’s current healthcare facilities, which have struggled to keep up with the rising demand for specialist medical services as government cannot do it alone,” she added.

Olorode therefore called on Nigerians to ensure they do regular checkup as diseases are cheaper to treat if diagnosed early. “It is far less expensive to treat illnesses early on. Similarly, by visiting the Diamed Center for routine checkups, you will undoubtedly receive the appropriate investigations and spare yourself a great deal of money,” she advised.

Explaining in details, the Facility Manager at Centre, Joseph Adeyanju explained in details what each of the equipment does and the need to stop medical tourism to include,

Specialized divisions for Ophthalmology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Cardiology, and Oncology which are some of the center’s salient features, pointing out that, “ Each department is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment and managed by highly skilled medical professionals trained both locally and internationally.

He said and I quote, “For instance, we have put in place the first 3D mammography machine, known as the 3Dimensions Mammography System in Nigeria. “ The new technology will help deliver a higher state of care by providing enhanced images to help detect breast cancer when it is in the earliest, most treatable stages.

“3D Mammography will improve our ability to better detect dangerous cancers, and at the same time reduces the likelihood of further testing for suspicious findings that turn out not to be cancer,” the facility manager at Diamed Centre, Joseph Adeyanju stated
