20,000 participants for 2023 Christmas in Badagry Fiesta

As the yuletide approaches, the Lagos State government is set to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Badagry to the world through the Christmas in Badagry fiesta.

The Christmas in Badagry which expects over twenty thousand participants is in partnership with Reftop African Multicultural Heritage Promotions.

At a news conference in Alausa, Ikeja, Christmas in Badagry Team lead, Mr Olufemi Iroko, said the programme would mark the one hundred and eighty-first anniversary of the maiden Christmas celebration in Nigeria which was held in Badagry in 1845.

Mr Iroko who assured residents and tourists of adequate security of lives and property, urged local artisans to embrace the show and make brisk business which would in turn have economic impact on all hospitality centers in the ancient town.

Mr Iroko who appreciated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the partnership to use the Badagry Marina and the first location where the gospel was preached in Nigeria, appealed to religious leaders to use their pulpits to preach peace and unity to foster development in the country.

Our Correspondent reports that the event will showcase Bethlehem story telling, carnival, decoration of a forty-foot-high Christmas tree, performance of talented Badagry metropolitan choir and other gospel artists, among others.
