The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has assured Nigerians that leading political figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi will remain united in their quest to reposition the country, irrespective of who clinches the party’s presidential ticket for the 2027 elections.
The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Jackie Wayas, gave the assurance in Abuja while speaking on preparations ahead of the party’s national convention.
She explained that consultations were ongoing on whether the presidential ticket should be zoned or thrown open, adding that the final decision would be guided by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
“There is a lot of pressure to zone and, at the same time, not to zone the presidential ticket. Ultimately, only one candidate will emerge, and the process will be determined by internal negotiations and NEC guidelines,” Wayas said.
According to her, the overriding focus of the ADC is to rescue Nigeria from its current socio-economic challenges.
Wayas stressed that the alliance binding Atiku, Obi, and Amaechi goes beyond personal ambition, describing it as a pact rooted in their shared commitment to national transformation.
