Woman attempting to smuggle 2.5kg of cocaine to Iran, others arrested

In a daring attempt, a woman named Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi was caught at the Port Harcourt International Airport, trying to export a large consignment of cocaine to Iran.

Disguised in an hijab, Obehi had inserted three wraps of cocaine into her private part, two large parcels hidden in false compartments of her handbag, and had swallowed 67 pellets of the Class A drug.

After being placed under observation, the spokesman NDLEA, Mr Femi Babafemi in a statement says, she expelled the 67 wraps of the substance, totaling 2.523 kilograms.

In another operation, NDLEA operatives at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos intercepted a 22-year-old British national, Campell Kaizra Kofi Johannes Slifer, who was found with two suitcases loaded with 35 parcels of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis, weighing 37.60kg.

Slifer, Mr Babafemi says, claimed he was recruited in London to travel to Thailand to pick up the illicit consignment and bring it to Nigeria.

Meanwhile, in Niger state, NDLEA officers intercepted a fuel truck and three other vehicles loaded with 246 bags of skunk, a strain of cannabis, with a combined weight of 3,047 kilograms. Four suspects were arrested in connection with the seizure.

Also, NDLEA operatives made several other arrests and seizures across the country, including the recovery of 109,914 pills of tramadol, swinol, and nitrozepam in Lagos, 52.5kg of skunk in Kaduna State, and 45,400 pills of tramadol in Kwara State.

In Bauchi state, NDLEA officers intercepted a Toyota Tundra jeep conveying 526 blocks of skunk, weighing 505kg, with two suspects arrested.

In another seizure, 31 kegs containing 775 litres of codeine syrup were recovered from two suspects in Kano, and 1.1kg of Loud consignment concealed in a pillow was intercepted at a courier company in Lagos.
