The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected cult members during an intelligence-led operation in the Ikorodu area of the state. A locally made pistol and six live cartridges were recovered during the raid.

The suspects—identified as Adenuga Tosin, Jesutofunmi Ezekiel, and Adeniji Juwon—were apprehended along the Owode-Ikorodu axis following credible intelligence received by the Command. The successful operation was carried out by one of the Command’s tactical units.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are linked to a violent cult group operating across various parts of Lagos State. They are believed to have been actively involved in the trafficking and distribution of illegal firearms.

“The Lagos State Police Command acted swiftly on a credible tip-off, leading to the arrest of the three suspects and the recovery of a firearm and ammunition,” Hundeyin stated. “Further investigation has confirmed that the individuals are members of a cult group notorious for violent activities, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members.”

He added that once investigations are completed, the suspects will be charged in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eradicating cultism and other criminal activities in the state. He called on members of the public to continue supporting security efforts by sharing timely and useful information with law enforcement authorities.

“The Command maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward cultism, and we are determined to ensure the safety of all Lagos residents,” the Commissioner emphasized.

The police assured the public that sustained surveillance and enforcement operations will continue across the state to dismantle criminal networks and promote lasting peace.
