Lagos Pensioners Appeal to Governor Sanwo-Olu Ahead of Sallah

Pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in Lagos State have appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to swiftly implement decisions reached during a recent meeting in Alausa to enable them to celebrate the upcoming Sallah festival with relief.

In a statement issued in Oshodi, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (CPS), Lagos State Council, Comrade Michael Omisande, revealed that three pensioners died in recent days due to extreme poverty.

He stressed that implementing the resolutions from the May 20 meeting between the government and labour unions would bring much-needed relief to CPS pensioners.

Comrade Omisande commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his efforts in clearing the backlog of pension liabilities, noting that it marked a positive step in supporting retirees in the state.
