Nigerians have been asked to pray for the troops keeping the nation safe in the face of terrorism and banditry in the country as Muslim faithful observe this year’s Eid-Kabir celebration.
President Bola Tinubu made the plea at the Eid-prayers held at Dodan Barracks Praying Ground, Obalende, Lagos.
He said that the sacrifices the military men were making to ensure that the territorial integrity of the nation is protected can not be ignored.
He however, urged Nigerians to continue to be security conscious and be their brothers keeper.
President Tinubu also called on Nigerians to learn to give to the less privileged around them in the spirit of love and selflessness.
On his part, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hazmat urged Nigerians to be security conscious at all times and ensure that they report any form of activity capable of threatening the peace and security of the nation to relevant authorities.
He advised Nigerians to love one another and continue to pray for the quick recovery of the nation’s economic.
Dr. Hazmat expressed the hope that the nation would sure wade out of its social and economic challenges by the grace of God.
The Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla in a sermon advised Nigerians to shun all forms of activities capable of hindering the peace and unity of the nation.
He advised Nigerians, Muslim faithful in particular, to extend hands of generosity to the less privileged in the society in the spirit of the Eid-kabir celebration.
He also called on Nigerians not to relent in praying for the nation’s political leaders right from President Bola Tinubu so that the leaders would be able to direct the nation aright.
