As Muslims across Nigeria mark Eid-al-Adha on Friday, the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command has rolled out heightened security operations to ensure peaceful celebrations in Lagos and Ogun States.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of the zone, Adegoke M. Fayoade, has directed robust deployments across both states, emphasizing visibility and vigilance at key public and religious locations.
Specialized units—including the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Special Protection Unit (SPU), Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), Anti-Kidnapping, Anti-Cultism, and Intelligence units—have been mobilized to secure worship centres, markets, highways, residential areas, transport hubs, and national infrastructure. Traffic officers are also on the ground to manage flow and reduce congestion during the festivities.
In a statement, AIG Fayoade assured residents that the police are fully prepared to maintain law and order throughout the holiday. He also extended warm Eid greetings to Muslim faithful, urging the public to remain law-abiding and to report any suspicious activity promptly.
“Celebrate with joy and peace of mind. We are committed to ensuring your safety throughout the Eid period,” Fayoade said.
