President Bola Tinubu has announced some juicy rewards for members and technical crew of Nigeria’s D’Tigress who defended their Afrobasket crown in Abidjan.
Each player bagged the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger, OON, Naira equivalence of one hundred thousand dollars plus an apartment.
In addition each member of the technical crew will get fifty thousand dollars, OON and an apartment.
Announcing the rewards yesterday at the State House in Abuja, Vice President Kashim Shettima who represented the country’s number one citizen, highlighted the significance of the triumph.
According to him the DTigress have built a basketball dynasty overtime which is reflective of the consistent joy women sports has brought to Nigeria.
The continental champions arrived yesterday in Abuja after securing six wins at Women Afrobasket 2025, which culminated in a 78-64 point win over Team Mali in the final played two days ago in Abidjan.
Meanwhile a financial institution Zenith Bank PLC has donated 200 Million Naira to the victorious D’Tigress.
10 Million Naira each will be credited to all the players’ Zenith bank Account that will be opened for them, while the remaining money will be shared among the technical team.
