Super Eagles B captain, Junior Nduka is confident the team can emulate the Super Falcons, and D’Tigress by winning the the 2024 African Nations Championship, CHAN.
The Eagles will begin their quest for a first CHAN title against defending champions Senegal at the Amman Stadium, Zanzibar today.
The team is fired up by performances of the Super Falcons and D’Tigress who recently enjoyed success on the continental stage.
Justine Madugu’s led Falcons won a record-extending 10th title at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco last month.
Just two days ago, D’Tigress claimed a fifth consecutive Women’s AfroBasket title in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
Referencing both exploits by the country’s women teams, Nduka declared the Eagles B would want to bring more success to Nigeria with CHAN, a tournament meant for players plying their trade in their country’s domestic leagues.
“Our female team has just won the WAFCON, and our women’s team just won the basketball title. It’s a good record for the country and we hope to consolidate on that,” the Remo Stars captain said in yesterday’s pre match presser for today’s opening Group B match against Senegal.
Tonight’s CHAN encounter will kick-off at 6pm Nigerian time.
