‎Google, GOMYCODE to Train 1,000 Nigerian Developers in Generative AI‎

‎Nigeria’s tech community is set for a boost as Google, in partnership with African digital skills trainer GOMYCODE, launches the “Build with AI” programme to equip 1,000 local developers with generative artificial intelligence skills.

‎The 11-week training will combine Google’s advanced AI tools, including Gemini, with practical, mentorship-driven learning to prepare participants for real-world problem-solving.

‎Head of Developer Ecosystem for Google in Sub-Saharan Africa, John Kimani, said the initiative comes at a crucial time when industries in Nigeria are increasingly adopting technology for scalable solutions.

‎He noted that the programme aims to position Nigerian developers at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation with solutions that are both globally competitive and locally relevant.

‎The training will take place across GOMYCODE’s network of hacker spaces, using a blended learning model that mixes in-person classes, hands-on lab work, and guided mentorship.

‎Organisers say the initiative will strengthen Nigeria’s position on the global AI map while fostering innovation in key sectors such as financial technology, healthcare, and agriculture.
