After fulfilling her dream of signing up with PSG Feminines, the captain of Nigeria’s Super Falcons’ Rasheedat Ajibade has explained various factors that compelled her into joining the French top-flight club.
PSG announced the deal today 26 August 2025, tying down the Women Africa Cup Of Nations WAFCON 2024 winner and tournament MVP to a 2 year contract until 2027.
Speaking to PSG TV after penning the contract, Ajibade stated she hoped to evolve into a better version of herself under the new environment.
“It’s a new challenge especially when you come into this kind of prestigious club with amazing talent, amazing players, amazing people.
And I’ve got opportunity to grow as a player as a person and a lot to learn, I believe it’s a place for me to evolve and learn and become the best version of me,” she said.
Ajibade who played last in Spain for Atletico Madrid attested to the global appeal of her new club.
PSG brand is a very unique great brand. It’s a team I’ve been admiring from a good distance.
I follow a lot from the men’s game to the women’s game as well.
It’s a place where I’ve seen players evolve, do great things, off course they’ve been competing very well.
Looking at the history of the club, looking at the values and mission of the club, I think it’s a very good club.
I think it’s a place for a lot of young players to go and evolve. It’s a great brand.”
Adaptation and integration might not be a problem for Ajibade, fondly called Jesus Girl, as she teams up with national teammate, Jennifer Echegini.
We know ourselves very well from the national team.
I am privileged to be captain of the Super Falcons so I have to relate to everybody on the team, so I have to know individually everyone.
I call her my sister because she’s a very unique person, of course very amazing and exceptional footballer and of course very good person to relate with.
I think that will play a major role for me to quickly get integrated, we’ve played a lot of time in the national team, so seeing somebody you know from the same country, yeah it helps quickly for me to get along in the team.
Ajibade also mentioned the influence of former Super Eagles’ captain Austin JJ Okocha who left a huge mark on France, while playing for PSG’s men’s side.
According to the former FC Robo forward, Okocha’s experience at PSG continues to inspire younger generation of Nigerian players back home to aspire for greatness in their careers.
PSG also have a mark in Nigeria because of Okocha with his tremendous skills and everything, so for us it’s a big plus .
PSG is part of our family back home in Nigeria because Okocha is a very big player for us and he’s an icon, a legend, we don’t joke with him at all.
PSG and Nigeria is huge, and I think most Nigerian players, both boys boys and girls, dream to play for PSG some day.”
