President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on November 3, 2025, declare open the Annual All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) organised by the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
The four-day event, scheduled to hold in Abuja from November 3–6, will bring together over 500 media executives and editors from within and outside Nigeria.
In a statement signed by the NGE President, Eze Anaba, and General Secretary, Onuoha Ukeh, the conference has as its theme: “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors.” A sub-theme will focus on “Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027.”
The conference will examine the role of editors in strengthening democratic governance, promoting unity, and tackling challenges confronting the media in a rapidly changing landscape.
It will also provide a platform to discuss election disputes, judicial integrity, misinformation, AI disruption, national security, and economic reforms.
Expected at the opening ceremony are President Tinubu, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; state governors, members of the diplomatic corps, and stakeholders in the private sector.
The Guild noted that the annual conference serves as a forum for editors to reflect on pressing national issues with political, economic, and social impact.
It added that this year’s edition would emphasise responsible journalism, inclusivity, and unity in diversity while holding leaders accountable.
This year’s ANEC comes four months after the Guild’s Biennial National Convention in Enugu, where new executives were elected.
