Lagos State Assembly Hails President Tinubu, as Nigeria celebrates 65th ndependence anniversary

Members of Lagos State Assembly have taken turns to celebrate Nigeria, saying Nigerians have reasons to celebrate, as the nation marks her sixty-fifth Independence Anniversary.

The lawmakers, while deliberating on a motion, raised under Matters of Urgent Public Importance by the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Mr. Noheem Adams, also celebrated President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to democracy and national development.

Mr. Adams, who acknowledged the struggles of the nation’s founding fathers towards independence, singled out President Tinubu, whom he said staked his life for the democracy, currently enjoyed in the country.

Our economy is gaining strength and inflation is reducing. We have cause to celebrate our independence.

“I also commend you as the Speaker of the House for being part of the success story of Nigeria, as the then Chairman of the Conference of Speakers that saw to the implementation of financial autonomy for state house of assemblies.

“We should write a letter to the President of Nigeria for his role in nation building, write the National Assembly, commend Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his efforts in developing Lagos State, commend Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and the civil societies,” he said.

In his comments, Mr. Aro Moshood, maintained that the independence, attained in 1960, is one of the best things that has happened to the country.

According to him, “65 years after, Nigeria remains blessed with people of diverse culture and talents. In Lagos, we see how our diversity can be a source of strength everyday.

“Today, the economy is recovering, students loan, tax reforms and others are part of the success stories of the country. In Lagos State, we have made laws on transportation, security, and others. Lagos has done well over the years, ” he said.

On his part, Chief Steven Ogundipe, urged the citizens to raise to their voice in gratitude to God, for Nigeria at 65.

He said; “We praise our leaders who carried the torch and we appreciate the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, who stood firm when things were going wrong for the country.

Even when he was outside the country, he still fought for the country to remain one. Let us renew our commitment to envision a stronger and united Nigeria.

Mr. Ladi Ajomale, explained that Lagos and subsequently the country, since the fourth Republic, have witnessed transformation, through the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

“His emergence as President has been beneficial.

He reintroduced the old National Anthem, which speaks to unity, service, loyalty and patriotism.

Happy birthday to Nigeria and independence day to us all,” he said.

While contributing, Mrs. Foluke Osafile, stated that there are few countries that were as blessed as Nigeria, in terms of human and natural resources.

She stated further that the challenges confronting the nation were transient, and that the nation will reach her promised land.

She added that “with God on our side, our case as a nation shall not be impossible.

Also speaking, Mr. Ajani Owolabi, who called on Nigerians to remain patriotic and eschew violence, added that Lagos, as the heartbeat of the country, has been doing her best to ensure the progress of the country.
