Lagos Assembly Commend Police Command Professionalism

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have applauded the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olorundare Jimoh, and his team for recent strides in safeguarding lives and property in the state.

Presenting the motion on the floor of the House, Chairman, Committee on Information, Security and Strategy, Mr.. Stephen Ogundipe, highlighted the importance of community involvement in enhancing security.

He emphasized that public safety is a shared responsibility, urging increased community awareness, public education, and a stronger crime reporting mechanism.

He advocated for improved safety protocols across schools, commercial districts, and public spaces, supported by surveillance systems and regular risk assessments.

In his contribution, Lawmaker representing Eti-Osa Local Council Development Area, Mr. Gbolahan Yishawu echoed support for the motion, describing it as timely and relevant.

He acknowledged the police force as the backbone of security in the state, particularly during the festive season when Lagos received a large number of people from the diaspora.

“The safety of the State during the holidays encouraged many to return home.

The police have improved remarkably in crime detection even in the absence of forensic tools,” he noted.

The House resolved that there should be a strengthened collaboration among all stakeholders, especially at the community level, to create an enabling and secure environment.

He added that continued support should be given to the Lagos State Government’s security initiatives, including the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.
