As Nigeria marks her 65th Independence anniversary, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mallam Shehu Mohammed, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all Nigerians on the milestone, calling for peace, unity and caution during the celebrations.
In a goodwill message issued in Abuja, the Corps Marshal described the Independence anniversary as a moment for reflection, patriotism, and renewed commitment to nation-building.
He urged citizens to celebrate with prayers, moderation, and a strong sense of responsibility.
“Independence Day is a reminder that every patriotic Nigerian must remain loyal and dedicated to the ideals of peace, unity, and progress. It is only the living who can celebrate, so we must all take safety seriously,” he noted.
Highlighting the FRSC’s preparedness, Shehu Mohammed disclosed that special patrols had been deployed nationwide to manage the expected increase in human and vehicular movement.
He stressed that motorists must obey traffic regulations, warning that violators of offences such as route violation, dangerous driving, drunk driving and traffic light disobedience risk having their vehicles impounded.
He further appealed to Nigerians to remain vigilant and law-abiding during the festivities, stressing that road safety is central to national wellbeing.
The Corps Marshal concluded by wishing the nation a peaceful and joyous celebration, praying for Nigeria’s prosperity and harmony among her citizens.
