SSANU Demands Withheld Salaries, Warns Over Pending Strike Threats

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has called on the Federal Government to immediately pay the withheld two months’ salaries of its members from the 2022 strike.

In a communiqué issued after its National Executive Council meeting in Owerri, National President, Comrade Mohammed Haruna, stressed that industrial harmony in universities depends on the prompt release of the funds.

SSANU also demanded the payment of the balance of ₦40 billion Earned Allowance for non-teaching staff unions and condemned government’s persistent failure to honour agreements.

The union further decried the non-remittance of pension deductions to members’ PFAs, urging immediate reconciliation and full remittance to protect workers’ retirement benefits.
