Some residents of Ikorodu, Lagos, have commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for inaugurating a new water supply scheme in their communities each equipped with a generator to ensure uninterrupted water distribution.
The project was executed through the Office of Rural Development under the supervision of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Agbaje.
According to Dr. Agbaje, the initiative forms part of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s ongoing effort to extend essential amenities to rural and semi-urban communities lacking access to potable water.
He explained that the water scheme would be replicated in more communities across the state to bridge infrastructural gaps, emphasizing that access to clean water is a basic need that government must continue to support.
The newly commissioned water plants and generators were officially handed over to community leaders including Mr. Giwa Idris (Vice Chairman, Lugbusi CDA), Mr. Abe Johnbull (Chairman, Joy Estate CDA), and Mr. Babatunde Awolesi (Chairman, Peace CDA).
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Johnbull expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for delivering the real dividends of democracy, noting that the project would significantly reduce the hardship caused by water scarcity in the area.
