The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Command to deepening community partnership and strengthening public trust in policing through proactive engagement and improved service delivery.
CP Jimoh made this known during a Stakeholders’ Engagement Forum held at the POWA Multipurpose Hall, Ikeja, as part of activities marking the 2025 Customer Service Week.

The event, which brought together traditional rulers, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), eminent personalities, and civil society representatives, was aimed at promoting closer collaboration between the police and the communities they serve.

Speaking at the meeting, the Commissioner explained that the celebration of Customer Service Week, observed globally and recognized by the Federal Government, provides an opportunity for the Nigeria Police Force to further strengthen its relationship with the public.
He noted that the initiative aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who has continued to promote a people-centered policing model nationwide.
“Policing must be about the people,” CP Jimoh stated. “Community policing requires that we listen, engage, and integrate the priorities of the communities into our security strategies.
The people are at the center of policing, and their feedback is vital to effective law enforcement.

The Commissioner disclosed that as part of the activities marking the week, the Command conducted a medical outreach at the Police Medical Centre for residents, in recognition of the symbiotic relationship between the police and the community.
He emphasized that the police belong to the people, and officers themselves are drawn from the same society they serve.
He further explained that the Command routinely intervenes in both criminal and non-criminal disputes to prevent escalation, noting that most violent incidents often begin as minor disagreements.
“Every call we respond to, no matter how small, is part of our duty to preserve peace and protect lives,” he said.
CP Jimoh assured Lagos residents of enhanced security as the ember months progress, affirming that the Command had reviewed its operational strategies to address emerging threats associated with increased movement and commercial activities during the festive season.
We have strengthened patrol operations and adopted proactive measures to forestall crime.
Lagosians should go about their activities confidently, knowing that the police are fully prepared to ensure their safety,” he said.
The Commissioner also reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance policy for misconduct, noting that disciplinary measures were in place to address any act of unprofessional behavior among officers.Participants at the forum including traditional rulers, leaders of community groups, and PCRC members commended the police for noticeable improvements in security within Lagos, particularly in the reduction of robbery, cult-related activities, and other violent crimes.
They, however, drew attention to the persistence of “one chance” robberies and the growing challenge of drug abuse among youths, urging the police to intensify intelligence-led operations to curb such trends.
The stakeholders also pledged continued collaboration with the Command through the sharing of credible information and community sensitization, in support of the collective goal of ensuring a safer Lagos.
