Notorious kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, was re-arraigned on Monday, October 13, 2025, on fresh charges related to the murder of two police officers.
The Lagos State Government brought Evans and a co-defendant, Joseph Ikenna Emeka, before Justice Oyindamola Ogala of the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja.
The case was transferred from the court of Justice Adenike Coker.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to a five-count amended charge, which alleges that they killed two policemen, Peter Nweke and Chijioke Ngozi, on August 27, 2013, in the Festac area of Lagos. The offences are said to contravene Section 221 of the Lagos Criminal Law of 2011.
State Prosecutor A.O. Azeez requested the fresh arraignment, proceeding despite Evans’ previous plea bargain applications filed before the former judge.
Evans is already serving jail sentences in two of his five ongoing criminal cases.
The court has adjourned the matter until November 19, 2025, for hearing and the issuance of witness summons.
