It was a convergence of royalty, government dignitaries, and eminent Nigerians as Ilara Kingdom in the Epe Division of Lagos State came alive to celebrate the fifth coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara.
The colourful ceremony attracted notable figures including the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.
The grand celebration also featured the presence of Mr. Fewa “10 Dollar” Otedola, who represented his mother, Lady Doja Otedola, renowned philanthropist and matriarch of the Otedola family.
Delivering her goodwill message, he described the Alara as a visionary leader and a bridge-builder whose reign has fostered peace, unity, and remarkable progress in Ilara and beyond.
“My mother holds His Majesty in high esteem for his humility, devotion to cultural preservation, and his commitment to the welfare of his people. The transformation Ilara has witnessed within five years of his reign is truly commendable,” 10 Dollar Otedola stated.
In his goodwill message, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat praised the Alara for his unwavering support of the Lagos State Government’s developmental agenda, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, education, and community peace.
He noted that the monarch’s leadership had been instrumental in driving progress and stability across the Epe Division.
Representing the ancient throne of Oduduwa, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, described the Alara as a true custodian of Yoruba heritage and a unifying force among traditional rulers.
“The Alara of Ilara represents the renaissance of cultural identity in Yorubaland. He has used his throne to strengthen our shared heritage and foster unity,” the Ooni stated.
In his royal remarks, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo expressed gratitude to God, his people, and all well-wishers who have supported his reign, describing the past five years as “a divine mandate to serve with dedication and compassion.”
He reaffirmed his commitment to human capital development, cultural rejuvenation, and infrastructural growth within the kingdom.
The event featured vibrant cultural performances, traditional music, and awards to notable individuals who have contributed to the development of Ilara Kingdom and the wider Epe Division.
Dignitaries in attendance included Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Ooni of Ife, “10 Dollar” Otedola representing lady Doja Otedola, royal fathers, business leaders, and community representatives who all paid glowing tributes to the Alara’s enduring legacy of progress.
