OGITECH Champions Youth Health for Nigeria’s National Growth

The Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, has underscored the vital role of youth health in enhancing productivity and accelerating national development.

This message was central at the institution’s 2nd Annual Lecture held on Friday on its campus in Igbesa, Ogun State, drawing industry leaders, policymakers, and academics.

Delivering the lecture titled “Youth Health, Productivity, and National Development,” the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, emphasized that Nigeria’s vibrant youth population must be guided, inspired, and equipped to drive the country toward global excellence.

He noted that youths remain the fulcrum of national advancement and urged them to embrace discipline, self-development, and strategic goal setting.

Dr. Salako highlighted the interdependence of education, employment, and health as crucial pillars for meaningful national progress.

He commended OGITECH for its innovative approach to youth development, stressing that good health forms the foundation of human capital, happiness, and sustainable productivity.

In his welcome address, the Rector, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, reaffirmed that nations that achieve global relevance are those that intentionally invest in the health, capacity, and creativity of their young people.

He assured stakeholders that OGITECH will continue partnering with youth-focused organizations to nurture innovative ideas and empower students.

The Chairman of the Governing Council, Chief Ayotunde Ayokunle Odulaja, further pledged the Council’s support for the Institute’s vision.

He stated that OGITECH’s mission aligns with the Ogun State Government’s commitment to education, echoing Governor Dapo Abiodun’s goal of fostering a dynamic and healthy youth population capable of driving innovation.

In his remarks, the Deputy Rector, Dr. Oluyemi Akanbi Odutola, expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun and the Education Commissioner, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, for their steady support.

He also thanked the Governing Council and the Royal Father of the Day, Oba Abdulazeez Oluwatoyin Akinde, for their ongoing goodwill, while praising the Rector’s leadership in promoting academic excellence and youth empowerment.
