Tinubu’s Peace Envoy Brings Relief as DSS Nabs Arms Supplier

President Bola Tinubu has intensified efforts to restore calm in Plateau State, deploying his peace envoy, Dr. Abiodun Essiet, on a two-day mission that focused on healing traumatised communities and rebuilding trust.

Essiet, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central), met with Christian clerics, Fulani leaders, women, youth and traditional rulers across Jos and Barkin Ladi.

Her engagements placed special emphasis on strengthening grassroots peace structures.

In Barkin Ladi, she visited Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, a prominent Christian leader, and met with widows, delivering President Tinubu’s message of reconciliation.

She also held dialogue sessions with Fulani community leaders to deepen understanding between pastoralists and farmers.

A notable breakthrough from the visit was the peaceful resolution of a long-running dispute in Gyel District, where Agha Farm owner David Toma and some herdsmen reached an agreement after months of tension.

With N500,000 compensation paid by the Bassa MACBAN chairman, both sides signed an undertaking to maintain peace.

In Jos, Essiet convened meetings with the Irigwe community, Miyetti Allah representatives and the Bassa Youth Council, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusive governance.

She emphasised that sustainable peace in Plateau relies on community-driven mechanisms supported by continuous dialogue and cooperation.

Meanwhile, the Department of State Services (DSS) announced a major security breakthrough with the arrest of suspected arms manufacturer Musa Abubakar, believed to supply weapons used in deadly attacks across Plateau and neighbouring states.

The raid on his workshop uncovered explosive components and weapons-making equipment, coming on the heels of multiple arrests—including escapee Abdulazeez “Bomboy” Obadaki—as the DSS intensifies its crackdown on violent criminal networks.
