FG Reaffirms Commitment to Securing Schools Nationwide

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening security around schools and ensuring the safety of students and citizens across the country.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, made this known during a visit to Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, as part of a Federal Government delegation.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Malam Rabiu Ibrahim, the minister described the rescue of some abducted students of St Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary School, Papyri, Niger State, as a moment of profound relief for their families and the nation.

“We are grateful for the tireless work of our security agencies, the swift response of the Niger State Government, and the strong community cooperation that made this outcome possible,” Idris said.

He reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to boosting school security, insisting that the protection and welfare of Nigerian children remain a central priority of the administration.

“Our children must be able to learn safely. The Federal Government is committed to working closely with states to ensure such violations of our collective peace have no place in our country,” he added.

The minister also praised the coordinated efforts of security agencies, the Niger State Government, and community stakeholders, noting that their collaboration was key to the successful rescue operation.

Governor Umaru Bago thanked the delegation for the visit and commended security personnel and local communities for their roles in securing the release of the pupils.

He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to continued partnership with the Federal Government on security and social stability.
