Sanwo-Olu Calls for Renewed Collaboration at 19th LSSTF Security Town Hall Meeting

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called for stronger collaboration between government, security agencies, and residents to tackle emerging security challenges across Lagos State. He made the call during the 19th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security, organised by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), held in Victoria Island.

Speaking on the theme “Building Trust, Enhancing Security: A New Era of Security and Partnerships,” Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasised that safeguarding lives and property remains a shared responsibility. He noted that every investment in security translates directly to peace, order, and economic prosperity.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to support the Federal Government and security agencies in the quest to achieve a crime-free society.

The Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, attributed Lagos’ relative safety to the Sanwo-Olu administration’s significant investment in modern security architecture. He highlighted key achievements recorded in the year under review, including the acquisition of patrol vehicles, infrastructural upgrades, and intensive capacity building for personnel.

In his welcome address, Chairman of the LSSTF Board of Trustees, Mr. Kehinde Durosimi-Etti, commended donors for their continued support. He underscored the importance of trust in sustaining effective security operations and urged private organisations, corporate bodies, students, and well-meaning individuals to contribute to the Fund to strengthen security across the state and the nation.

Presenting the security report for October 2024 to September 2025, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Jimoh Olohundare, disclosed that the Command recorded 152 murder cases during the period. He added that 9,275 miscreants were arrested, while 518 rounds of ammunition were recovered, among other security-related achievements.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Gallantry to the Commissioner of Police Special Squad One for foiling a kidnap attempt and neutralising nine kidnappers during an operation in the Ladipo area in July last year. The state government also handed over 100 new patrol vehicles to security operatives to boost their operational efficiency.
