Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Mr. Obi announced his defection on Tuesday in Enugu, ahead of the 2027 general election.
Explaining his decision, the former governor said the move was aimed at transforming and rescuing Nigeria from its current political and economic challenges.
According to him, the defection marks the beginning of a renewed political journey, expressing optimism that the year 2026 would usher in what he described as a rescue mission for the country.
Mr. Obi further called on opposition leaders to close ranks and unite under a common front, urging them to work together as one family under the leadership of former Senate President, David Mark, to reposition the nation.
