NARD Announces Nationwide Indefinite Strike Over Unimplemented Agreements

Healthcare delivery across the country may face another disruption as the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced plans to withdraw its services nationwide from January 12.

The decision was taken at an Extraordinary National Executive Council meeting and disclosed in a statement shared on X by the association’s President, Dr. Mohammed Suleiman.

According to the resolution, NARD will commence a Total and Indefinite Clinical Services strike, tagged “No Implementation, No Going Back,” from midnight on January 12.

The association said the action followed the Federal Government’s failure to fully implement agreements on doctors’ welfare, despite a four-week ultimatum issued on December 28, 2025, after the suspension of its 29-day strike.

As part of preparations for the industrial action, NARD directed presidents of its 91 centres nationwide to convene congress meetings and hold news conferences within the next seven days.

The association also announced that a series of protests would accompany the strike action.
