Action Film Legend Chuck Norris Dies at 86


Renowned American action actor and martial arts icon, Chuck Norris, has died at the age of 86.


In a statement released on social media, the Norris family announced that the veteran actor passed away peacefully on Thursday, surrounded by loved ones, following a reported medical emergency in Hawaii.

The family described him as a man who lived with faith, discipline and a strong sense of purpose, inspiring millions across the world.


Chuck Norris rose to global prominence as a martial artist and Hollywood action star, gaining early recognition in the 1972 film The Way of the Dragon, where he starred alongside Bruce Lee.

He later featured in several blockbuster action films including Missing in Action and Delta Force.


He became a household name in the 1990s through the popular television series Walker, Texas Ranger, where he played the lead role of a crime-fighting Texas Ranger.


Born Carlos Ray Norris in Oklahoma, United States, he developed an interest in martial arts while serving in the United States Air Force in Korea.

He later became a world karate champion and went on to establish his own martial arts style.


Beyond his film and television career, Norris was also known for mentoring several celebrities in martial arts, including Steve McQueen and Bob Barker.


In later years, his tough on-screen image inspired a wave of internet humour popularly known as “Chuck Norris facts,” further cementing his place in global pop culture.


He was also a philanthropist and founder of Kickstart Kids, a programme aimed at promoting character development among young people through martial arts.


Chuck Norris is remembered for his contributions to entertainment, martial arts and youth development.
