Sanusi Praises Yusuf’s 30% Education Budget, Urges Market Relocation

EMIR of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has applauded Abba Kabir Yusuf for prioritising education in the state’s 2026 budget, where about 30 per cent has been allocated to the sector.

Sanusi described the allocation as a strong commitment to improving teaching and learning across Kano State, particularly in addressing educational challenges in Northern Nigeria.

The monarch, who spoke during his traditional Sallah homage (Hawan Nasarawa) at the Government House in Kano as part of activities marking Eid al‑Fitr celebrations, also emphasised the importance of girl-child education.

He cautioned parents and husbands against preventing women from pursuing education, stressing that educating women is critical to the region’s social and economic development.

In his remarks, Governor Yusuf urged residents to maintain peaceful coexistence to foster the overall development of the state.

Represented by the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Ismail Jibrin Falgore, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening human development and improving the well-being of citizens.

Meanwhile, the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Autan Bawo, has urged the Rano Local Council to relocate traders currently operating around the Rano General Hospital.

The monarch said the appeal became necessary due to increasing road congestion and frequent accidents caused by roadside trading in the area.

Speaking during his traditional Sallah homage to the council secretariat, Bawo noted that residents and commuters had repeatedly raised concerns over accidents linked to the busy roadside market.

He therefore recommended the establishment of a designated market space for the traders to improve safety and ease traffic flow in the area.

The emir also commended Governor Yusuf for supporting emirate councils across Kano State through various developmental projects.
