Nigerian football administrator Samson Adamu as its Acting General Secretary, marking the first time a Nigerian will occupy the organisation’s top administrative role.
The appointment was announced following a CAF Executive Committee meeting in Cairo by CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
Adamu takes over from Véron Mosengo-Omba, becoming the most senior administrative officer in the Cairo-based football governing body.
Before his appointment, Adamu served as CAF’s Director of Competitions and was widely regarded as a leading candidate for the role alongside Gelson Fernandes.
An alumnus of the FIFA Master programme, he holds a degree in Business Management and Computer Science from the American University of Paris.
In his new role, Adamu will oversee the day-to-day administration of CAF, manage the secretariat, and coordinate the implementation of decisions taken by the Executive Committee.
