In a bid to instill safety culture in students during emergencies, the Lagos State Command and Control Center, LSCCC, embarked on a sensitization/awareness on the importance of the toll free line 767 and 112, to State Junior High School, Oyewole in Agege.

Speaking on the awareness objective, LSCCC Director Admin and Human Resources, Mrs Adeyinka Adeeso, said students are part of the future leaders of the state and country at large, which should be aware of where to find help during emergencies.

Mrs Adeeso explained that the 767 and 112 can be dialed without airtime, but however cautioned against making hoax calls saying such deprive those in actual need of real time reporting.

“The whole essence of this is sensitization, to make the students know where to call when in need of help during emergencies but we are against false calls because it deprives people who genuinely need help of real time reporting of issues which could cause more danger, so people should desist from making false calls because it is a punishable offense”.
Some of the students, Awoseyin Tobiloba Emmanuel and Alamu Eniola Rebecca spoke on their behalf and were visibly excited, appreciated the LSCCC for the initiative and promised to propagate the message of safety using 767 and 112.”
We have learnt that during emergencies we should be calm and not panic, give adequate address when calling 767/112 for promptness, and we will take this home to tell our parents what we have learnt, we are also grateful for gifts given to us, thank you Lagos state Command and Control Center”.
Principal of the school, Mrs Olabimpe Balogun, expressed gratitude on behalf of the school management and students, saying such initiative would not be forgotten in a long time by the students, maintaining that the school also some safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, sand buckets among others in case of emergencies.
Over one thousand students were given water bottles, exercise books with safety tips written on it and pens.
