Women’s Day: Calls Grow For Women Empowerment

Women have been urged to love themselves, show love to others, encourage and empower themselves as they journey through life.

The Director Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Lagos Operations, Princess Adenike Adegoke, gave the charge at the Radio Nigeria Lagos Operations Women Day celebration, in commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day held at the Broadcasting House in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Princess Adegoke, who commended the United Nations for setting aside a day to celebrate women noted that this year’s theme, highlights the need for practical steps to guarantee the rights, safety and opportunities of women and the need to encourage themselves and explore opportunities to make them stand the test of time.

According to Princess Adenike Adegoke, every woman is created to be unique and given every opportunity to empower themselves and they must put God first in anything they do.

“We want to thank the …..for deeming it fit to set out a day to celebrate women. It is an opportunity for us as women to celebrate ourselves, we should love ourselves, we should not envy others.”

Realize your talent, put it into use and empower yourselves, love yourselves, love one another and see yourselves as being unique and with God we will go far.”

The General Manager, Metro FM and Assistant Director Programmes, Mrs. Maria Ihuoma, applauded the International community for making out time to celebrate women noted that this year’s theme ‘Give To Gain’ reminds all that investing in women unlocks growth, innovation and resilience that benefit all hence the need to be celebrated.

According to Mrs. Maria Ihuoma, educate a man you educate an individual, educate a woman you educate a nation.

“We give it all to the United Nations for deeming it fit to celebrate women globally. Women give succour, women give love do it is important to celebrate women because they have given so much to the society.”

Guests to the occasion, Mrs. Ugochi Nnodu, with an asset management company partnering Radio Nigeria and Mrs. Tinuade Adejumo, and ardent listener to Radio Nigeria, said women are worthy to celebrate commended Radio Nigeria for organizing the women’s day celebration.

They called for the need to empower women to secure their tomorrow.

“It is a good thing we are celebrating women of Radio Nigeria today.” She said.it is a wonderful event to celebrate what women can do and their achievement and to ensure that women are recognized and included in what is happening in the country.”

The occasion brought together all women from the Radio Nigeria FM stations in Lagos namely Radio One 103.5 FM, Metro 97.7 FM and Bond 92.9 FM to celebrate themselves.
