Airport Police Arrest Ex-Employee Over ₦15m Theft at Lagos Airport Firm

The Airport Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man over allegation of theft of high-value equipment from his former employer, Vovida Communications Limited, an IT solutions firm operating along the Murtala Muhammed International Airport axis.

Police say the suspect was apprehended on April 3rd, 2026, following what they describe as careful intelligence gathering and investigation by operatives of the airport division.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Adeola, preliminary findings revealed that the suspect unlawfully gained access to the company’s premises and carted away critical equipment.

CCTV footage from the facility reportedly captured his movements, helping investigators confirm his identity.

The stolen items include two custom-built CPUs and a high-end printer, with a combined value of over fifteen million naira.

Police say the suspect later led investigators to recover the CPUs, while the printer had already been sold before his arrest.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to carrying out the theft as an act of revenge after his employment was terminated.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, assured that the Command remains committed to ridding the airport environment of criminal activity.

She added that the suspect will be charged to court once investigations are concluded, and urged the public to report suspicious movements promptly to aid swift police response.

The Command says it will continue to intensify efforts to protect lives and property within and around the airport.
