NSE Opens Fellows’ Lounge in Abuja, Enhances Networking Space

The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Mr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu has inaugurated a Fellows’ Lounge in Abuja, describing the facility as a strategic addition aimed at improving engagement and comfort for members and visitors.

Speaking during the official opening, Mr. Rabiu explained that the initiative was conceived to address the absence of a befitting waiting and interaction space within the society’s secretariat.

He noted that, previously, visiting members, particularly senior professionals and fellows, often had no suitable place to relax or hold informal discussions while waiting for meetings.

“Maybe they want to see the president and you are told that the president has just stepped out but he is soon to be coming back and they don’t have a place to stay, so we thought of this idea”.

According to him, the newly inaugurated lounge is designed to reflect the status and expectations of high-ranking members of the engineering profession, offering a more conducive environment for interaction and collaboration.

Beyond serving as a reception and waiting area, the NSE President said the lounge would function as a hub for networking, idea exchange, and professional bonding among engineers.

He added that the facility aligns with the society’s broader goal of fostering stronger relationships within the engineering community and enhancing the overall experience of members at the Abuja headquarters.

The inauguration marks another step in the NSE’s ongoing efforts to upgrade its infrastructure and create spaces that support professional development and engagement among its growing membership.
