The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of six students of Nasarawa State University and another unidentified person by suspected gunmen in Keffi.
Police spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, said the victims are students of the Faculty of Engineering, Gudi Campus.
According to the police, the attackers invaded off-campus student lodges in the Gudi area at about 9 p.m. on May 6, 2026, abducting the students and a visitor.
The state Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed the visited the scene and assured residents and the university community that efforts were ongoing to secure the release of the victims.
The command said the Area Commander in Akwanga has been directed to coordinate rescue operations.
Security agencies, including the police, , military, and local vigilante groups, have launched joint operations to track the abductors and rescue the victims.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and provide useful information that could aid ongoing operations.
