The Campaign for Dignity in Governance, alongside over 250 Civil Society Organizations, community-based associations, youth development groups, democratic advocacy platforms, and public interest stakeholders, has formally endorsed Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for greater leadership responsibility in Lagos State, describing him as a tested administrator, a loyal public servant, and one of the most competent political figures in contemporary governance.
The endorsement was jointly announced in Lagos by the Convener of the Campaign for Dignity in Governance, Razaq Olokoba, alongside co-conveners and leaders of affiliated civil society organizations who unanimously expressed confidence in Hamzat’s leadership capacity, integrity, and commitment to the continued development of Lagos State.
According to the coalition, the endorsement is based on careful observation of Hamzat’s years of service, his ethical conduct in public office, his loyalty to governance ideals, and his unwavering commitment to the developmental blueprint and policy direction of the current administration in Lagos State.
The coalition stated that leadership must be earned through service, consistency, discipline, competence, and character, noting that Hamzat has repeatedly demonstrated these qualities throughout his public life.
“We are endorsing Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat because he represents continuity, competence, political maturity, administrative excellence, and stability. He has shown uncommon loyalty to governance and a deep commitment to the development of Lagos State,” the statement read.
The coalition particularly commended Hamzat’s loyalty and commitment to the programmes and policies of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, stating that his role in supporting and advancing the administration’s developmental agenda has contributed significantly to the progress Lagos continues to record across critical sectors.
According to the group, Hamzat has remained focused on governance rather than distractions, consistently supporting policies aimed at infrastructure development, transportation reform, youth empowerment, innovation, healthcare expansion, housing delivery, and economic growth.
“Loyalty in leadership is not weakness; it is discipline, responsibility, and commitment to collective progress. Dr. Hamzat has shown that leadership is about service, cooperation, and protecting the vision of development,” Olokoba stated.
The coalition further noted that Hamzat possesses exceptional political clarity and strategic understanding of governance, qualities it described as essential for sustaining progress in a complex and rapidly growing state like Lagos.
According to the statement, political clarity is not merely about ambition but about understanding policy direction, institutional management, stakeholder engagement, and long-term planning.
“Dr. Hamzat understands Lagos. He understands governance. He understands institutions. Most importantly, he understands the future direction of the state and what must be done to sustain growth and stability,” the coalition added.
The coalition also praised Hamzat’s high moral standard and ethical conduct as a public office holder, describing him as one of the few leaders whose public image has remained strongly associated with discipline, professionalism, humility, and accountability.
It noted that integrity remains one of the most important qualities in leadership, especially at a time when citizens demand transparency, responsibility, and trustworthiness from public officials.
According to the coalition, Hamzat’s conduct in office reflects maturity, restraint, and respect for democratic principles and institutional processes.
“We have watched his conduct over the years. He has demonstrated civility, responsibility, and ethical leadership. These are qualities that cannot be ignored when discussing the future of leadership in Lagos State,” the statement noted.
The coalition further described Hamzat as a transparent and outstanding mobiliser with the ability to unite people across political, professional, and community lines.
It stated that his accessibility, communication style, and people-oriented leadership have earned him broad respect among stakeholders, civil servants, youth groups, professionals, and grassroots communities.
According to the coalition, one of Hamzat’s strongest qualities is his ability to build consensus and maintain stability while focusing on governance delivery.
“Leadership is not only about speaking loudly; it is about building trust, inspiring confidence, and bringing people together around a common vision. Dr. Hamzat has repeatedly shown this capacity,” Olokoba added.
The coalition also praised his outstanding leadership traits, intellectual depth, administrative experience, and technical understanding of governance, noting that his contributions to policy coordination and public sector reforms in Lagos have helped strengthen institutional performance over the years.
It stated that Lagos, as one of Africa’s most important economic centers, requires leadership built on competence, vision, innovation, emotional intelligence, and continuity.
“Lagos cannot afford uncertainty or leadership without experience. The state requires someone who understands the complexity of governance and possesses the discipline to sustain progress while introducing new ideas for future growth,” the coalition said.
The coalition concluded by reaffirming its total confidence in Hamzat’s leadership ability and recommending him as a capable, visionary, and reliable leader who can protect existing developmental achievements while advancing Lagos toward greater economic growth, social stability, and institutional excellence.
“We believe Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat represents the future of stable, progressive, and people-centered leadership in Lagos State. He has the competence, loyalty, experience, transparency, and outstanding leadership traits required for greater responsibility,” the statement concluded.
