The Lagos State Government has intensified oversight and performance monitoring across its parastatals and government-owned agencies as part of reforms aimed at boosting revenue generation, blocking leakages and strengthening accountability in public institutions.
Permanent Secretary, Parastatals Monitoring Office, PMO, Dr Olugbemiga Aina, stated this on Tuesday during the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing held in Alausa, Ikeja.
Aina said the reforms were designed to improve efficiency, transparency and financial discipline across state agencies in line with the Sanwo-Olu administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ development agenda.
According to him, one of the key initiatives introduced by the office is the Parastatals Revenue Generating Meeting, PARGEM, a strategic platform created to monitor revenue performance across 80 revenue-generating agencies, identify leakages and strengthen collection systems statewide.
“The Parastatals Monitoring Office remains committed to ensuring that all parastatals, agencies and government-owned companies operate in line with established administrative, financial and governance guidelines,” he said.
The Permanent Secretary disclosed that the state conducted inspection and evaluation exercises across 70 agencies in 2025, while another round covering 75 agencies is currently ongoing in 2026.
He explained that the exercises focused on revenue performance, expenditure monitoring, pension compliance, project execution, financial accountability and adherence to government regulations.
Aina further revealed that the PMO carried out project monitoring exercises involving 25 agencies to assess ongoing and completed projects, identify implementation delays and ensure value for money in public spending.
According to him, the exercise was undertaken in collaboration with engineers, builders and architects from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to ensure compliance with approved standards and specifications.
The Permanent Secretary added that the office also conducted operational assessments across 50 agencies to evaluate governance structures, succession planning, audited financial records and overall institutional efficiency.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to deepening institutional reforms through stronger project monitoring, performance evaluation and improved inter-agency collaboration aimed at delivering sustainable governance and efficient public service across Lagos State.
