ADC Orders Members to Quit Other Parties, Backs Primary Winner

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has directed all its members to immediately resign from other political parties.

The resolution followed a caucus meeting in Abuja, where the party’s spokesman, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed that all presidential aspirants within the ADC agreed to support whoever emerges as the party’s flag bearer at the primaries.

The party also announced that the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), which was once considered as a fallback option for the 2027 elections, has been rested.

“The coalition has rested everything concerning the ADA. That means they are no longer interested in the registration or otherwise of the association,” Abdullahi stated.

While the caucus was silent on the timeline for compliance, it confirmed that the National Working Committee (NWC) would soon announce dates for primaries in Osun and Ekiti ahead of the off-cycle governorship elections.

The meeting was attended by prominent political figures, including ADC National Chairman David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, and former governors Nasir el-Rufai, Aminu Tambuwal, and Chibuike Amaechi.

Labour Party leader Peter Obi, though absent, reportedly conveyed his commitment.
