Adewale who was a Governorship Candidate of Action Democratic Party in 2018 Ekiti State gubernatorial election, scored a total of two hundred and sixty-four votes to defeat his main challenger, Mr. Yomi Ogungbe, who polled two votes
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Adewale thanked the party delegates for counting him worthy to represent them at the Senate, called for unity of purpose to ensure that the party win in next year’s general elections.
He promised to work assiduously to bring other aspirants who contested with him at the primary election together in order to defeat the ruling party in the district.
Mr. Adewale charged the electorate to get registered and make good use of their votes.
Similarly, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Nicholas Akobada has won the party’s ticket for Lagos East Senatorial District,
The Chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee and Returning Officer for the Monday’s Senatorial Primary Election, Mr Daniel Ochu-Baiye announced that Mr. Akobada polled seventy-four votes to defeat his closest rival, Yeye Agnes Adenike-Shobajo who scored sixty-three votes.
Meanwhile, the exercise witnessed protests over alleged substitution of delegate list, especially when ad hoc delegates from Ikorodu, with about fifty-eight were voting.
This came after delegates from Somolu, Kosofe, Epe and Ibeju-Lekki had voted.
Security agents and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, monitored the exercise.
Speaking to newsmen after the exercise, Mr Akanbi Abidakun, who led the INEC team to observe the primary, expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the exercise, urging political parties to ensure better logistics in their primary election.
