Former Chief of Air Staff and eminent Badagry indigene, Air Marshal Nunayon Amosu (rtd), has called on the government and community leaders to sustain the peace legacy of the late Akran of Badagry, De Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi I.
Amosu, who also holds the traditional title of Awhangan of Badagry Kingdom, paid a condolence visit to the Akran Palace, where he commended the late monarch as a man of peace, wisdom, and uncommon humility, whose reign was characterized by harmony, inclusiveness, and dedicated service to humanity.
“The Akran’s tireless promotion of peaceful coexistence helped position Badagry as one of the most hospitable and stable communities in Lagos State and Nigeria,” Amosu said.
Receiving the delegation, Babatunde Hunpe, Chairman of Badagry Local Government, thanked the former Air Force chief for his support and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to uphold the late Akran’s enduring legacy of peace and communal development.
Hunpe described the monarch as a pillar of support and unity in Badagry Kingdom.
The 18th ruler of Badagry Kingdom, the late Akran, passed away at the age of 89, after a 49-year reign marked by stability and service.
His death has plunged the ancient coastal town into mourning, as residents, traditional institutions, and political leaders reflect on the life of a stabilizing force and moral compass.
Air Marshal Amosu’s delegation included top military officials such as AVM Ajibola Jekennu, Rtd Col S. Sonayon Oni, and Prince Adeyinka Amosu, a former Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.
